Red, White, Blue……

red_white_blueWell, what do these colors actually mean in fashion?  We all wear them faithfully for Independence Day.  We dress our kids in the color, our dogs adorn scarves around their necks, and we wear and ADORE white dresses.  Have you ever wondered what each color signified.  Well, with a little research I was able to dig up some interesting facts to enlighten us all.

Red is such a powerful color.  It’s a favorite to so many.  Red is the actual color of passion and love, and is the most emotionally intense color.  Red also produces a biological response, getting people hot and bothered by quickening the pulse and increasing the breathing rate.  While red is definitely regarded as a sexy color that draws attention, red also makes the wearer look heavier and is an appetite stimulant – perhaps this explains common weight gain during the holiday season.

Let’s take a look at  White.  We all love white parties, white dresses, white linen.  White is the sum of all other colors in the spectrum.  It reflects light and is considered a summer color.  Wearing white tends to keeps you cool and contrasts bright colors of spring and summer nicely.  Wear white and enjoy your Summery self.

My all time favorite is Blue.  Blue is one of the most popular colors.  After all, it is found in many places on our planet:  from the sky to the ocean, to baby blue eyes, to the forever-fashionable blue jean.  Blue stimulates a chemical reaction in the body, producing feelings of peace and tranquility.

The end result is wear these colors with pride and embrace their fashionable meanings.  Wanna read more about color, read Suite 101 for more tidbits.
